2009 Mustang Brings New Standard Features and Options

New order guides tell of minor equipment changes for carry over year.
03-20-08: The 2009 Mustang order guides are out and they largely point to another carry-over year for the Mustang. There are few changes to note however for what will be an abbreviated model year. The redesigned 2010 Mustang will appear on the lots early next year, making the 2009 model run only about 6 months long.
The most significant change for 2009 is that elements of the option group formerly known as the IUP, or Interior Upgrade Package will be made standard equipment on all “Premium” models. Both the Premium V6 and GT will now have the satin aluminum dash trim, ambient lighting and satellite radio. To further set the Premium model apart from the base Mustangs, the entry level Mustangs will lose the “Deluxe” name.
There is still a option package that takes the trim level beyond just the aluminum trim and lighting effects. The Premium Interior Package includes a bright shift knob, dark charcoal door
panels, leather wrapped wheel, message center, polished instrument gauge cluster, satin steering wheel spokes, door latches, scuff plates and vent covers.

When it comes to color, those hoping Ford might keep the sales decline at bay by offering some cool new colors for 2009 will be disappointed. Once again, a shade of silver has been replaced by a new shade of silver. Brilliant Silver Clearcoat Metallic replaces Silver Metallic. Yawn. We can hope for some cool new Grabber colors someday.
Of course the great news that was already reported earlier this year is the Glass Roof option. A feature that has been reserved for concept cars is now available for real. The full roof glass spans from the windshield to the rear window and is only available on Premium V6 and GT models. The option also limits interior colors to Charcoal Black, Black/Red, or Black/Chamois color accent only. 2009 Bullitt and GT/CS customers will be disappointed to find that the option is not available for the special edition Mustangs.
Mentioned just a second ago, you read it right - the Bullitt and GT/CS will continue into the 2009 model year. This has created some controversy among Bullitt enthusiasts that the car would become a two year run. But however that shakes out, there is no doubt that each and every one of the Bullitt Mustangs will find a happy owner who loves their car.
The GT-500 and GT-500KR roll into 2009 with few changes. Those noted would be the now standard satellite radio and ambient lighting. Horsepower and performance remain the same as do the appearances of the car.
Like in 1999, all 2009 Mustangs will sport a 45th Anniversary logo on the fender. A tribute to the Mustang’s longevity, the special emblem is surely to have meaning and pride to the buyers who take one home. The Warriors In Pink Mustang also gallops into 2009 with a few visual tweaks. Story Here
