Another one-off charity Mustang to sell at EAA Airventure
07-21-09: Ford has once again created a one-off custom Mustang in aviator sunglasses to be auctioned for charity at the EAA Airventure event this year. The air show event at Oshkosh, WI is one of the biggest, and the venue is ripe for this aviation themed Mustang to shine.
The 2010 Mustang AV-X10 starts with a standard Mustang GT with carefully designed paint treatments that celebrate the spirit if vintage airplanes - the P-51 Mustang in particular. Off the shelf visuals like the hot GT-500 wheels and a supercharger from Ford Racing Parts give it some bite. The 550hp 4.6 liter engine snarls through an FR-500 exhaust system too.

The homage to aviation is sprinkled heavily upon the AV-X10 throughout. It has star graphics on the glass roof, special emblems and a pin-up girl painted on the fenders. Names “Dearborn Doll”, she mimics the many who came before her on WW-II war planes.
How this one-off auction car will fare this year at the EAA Airventure block is unknown with the current economic state. Last year, the Mustang AV8R sold for $500,000. Of course when it comes to charity and well heeled airplane enthusiasts, the economy is not always something that comes into play. We will have to wait until July 27th to find out.
