Products: Griggs Racing Suspension For ’64-’70 Mustangs

Staff Report

Get that GR feeling in your vintage Stang!

02-18-09: A name well known at the road courses around America, Griggs Racing is now moving its high performance chassis expertise into the vintage market. Griggs is now offering a comprehensive front suspension system for ’64-’70 models. By increasing chassis rigidity, engineering optimum suspension geometry and employing Griggs’ race-proven TorqueArm rear suspension, early Mustang owners can now run past the big dogs at open track days while improving street handling too.

Two complete GR-350 kits are available, one for ’64-’66 models and the other for ’67-’70 models. These kits are also available as separate front and rear kits, and as individual components. Griggs of course recommends the full kit to realize full potential of your Mustang on both the street and track.

The GR350 front end kit shown in the photo features a tubular K-member and mini-towers that allows the optional removal of spring towers for more room in the engine compartment, fabricated upper and lower control arms, power rack and pinion steering, coil-over shocks and late-model spindles that accept several brake options. A race-style splined and gun-drilled front anti-roll bar with billet arms enables fine chassis tuning. Wheel hubs and all related hardware are included.

The standard K-member accepts 302/351-style motors, but for those wanting more modern power, Griggs Racing even offers a GR 350 K-member that swaps-in Ford Modular engines as well. So you can easily drop in that 5.4 supercharged ROUSH or Ford Racing crate motor in a snap. There are many options in the package including adjustable or fixed lower a-arms, depending on your individual application.

Make no mistake that installing this package into a vintage Mustang is neither a weekend project or an inexpensive one. But with Griggs Racing’s reputation for high-G track performance, it is a significant consideration if you are looking for extreme handling from your early Mustang.
